CompEX – Compounding Excellence

The Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP) would like to introduce the Compounding Excellence (CompEX) implementation plan for the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) model standards for pharmacy compounding. The NAPRA Standards are the minimum standards for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies to meet to ensure that compounding excellence is achieved in all areas and levels of both sterile and non-sterile compounding.

The CompEX implementation plan takes a phased approach towards full compliance of all pharmacies by December 2020.

Each phase outlines different suggested areas of the NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding to focus on during that time frame, with soft deadlines to meet at the end of each phase. SCPP is here to assist members in achieving full compliance, to ensure the ultimate in patient and pharmacy staff safety when working with compounded preparations.

Note that to assist pharmacies as they meet with continuing COVID-19 challenges, the deadline for compliance with the NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding has been extended to Aug. 31, 2022.
